Using Vinegar Around the House:
Due to its level of acidity, white distilled vinegar is effective for killing most mold, bacteria, and germs, making it a great cleaning agent all around the home. Best of all, it’s affordable and non-toxic! Here are a few useful ways, you can use vinegar around your home:
Clean the Microwave: Combine 1/2 cup of vinegar with 1/2 cup of water in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on High for approximately 3 minutes to bring the mixture to a rolling boil. The steam created will loosen baked-on food, and eliminate odors. Then wipe clean.
In the Bathroom: Vinegar is great for removing grime, soap scum and mildew in the shower. Just pray with white distilled vinegar (undiluted). Let it sit for a few minutes, and then wipe clean.
Deodorize Drains & Garbage Disposal: Pour in 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of warm vinegar down the drain or disposal (to warm vinegar, just heat it in the microwave for 1 minute). Let the solution sit for approximately 5 minutes. Then flush with hot water.
To Clean Windows: Mix a solution of equal parts vinegar and water. Spray mirrors and windows, and then use a rag or newspaper to wipe clean.
To Clean & Disinfect Toys: Add a 1/4 cup of vinegar to hot soapy water. Then wipe and rinse toys clean.
Please Note: Vinegar should NEVER be used to clean marble, as the acid may damage the natural stone surface.
